The automobile manufacturer from the US, the Ford Motor Corp, recently made the announcement that in order to acquire more shares in the car market of India the firm is about to launch a whole new line of cars by the year 2015. The very first step the firm intends to take towards this plan is the launch of its hatchback Ford Focus in India. The firm is also contemplating on the development of a smaller car in comparison to the Ford Figo hatchback. With these two cars, the forthcoming compact SUV of the firm, Ford EcoSport is also among the six cars that the firm has decided to launch by 2015.
President, Asia Pacific and Africa Operation, Ford Motors, Mr. Joe Hinrichs is of the opinion, “that the firm is efficient and eager to make cars that are smaller in size than the current Ford Figo and may come at low prices. Initially the firm had no intensions of keeping Figo in their portfolio but it has developed the car from scratch to launch it in the growing automobile markets of India and other nations. However, because of Figo the firm has gained a lot of confidence and has learnt the taste of the customers of India.”
In the Fiscal Year of 2012, Ford India made sales of near around 92,748 units and thus earned a 3.2 percent share in the domestic market of cars. Out of these 92,748 units, 75 percent units were of Ford Figo. The products of future are now focused on the segment of small cars that is known as the figure generating segment of the nation. Ford India firmly believes that with these future products it will be capable enough to hold better share in the automobile market of India. The firm has also made it very clear to all that the much discussed premium hatchback of the firm Ford Focus is coming to India soon.
Mr. Joe Hinrichs also said, “That the Ford Focus is going to be one of the best offerings of the firm to the Indian car market where the customers desire to own a sedan for the symbol of luxury it carries, but this sentiment has started to change. Now people are shifting to the premium hatchbacks which are more features enriched and powerful. For these reasons majority of people find them to be more practical and thus best suited to drive around in the busy traffic of city.”
Ford EcoSport’s pre-production unit was displayed in the Beijing Motor Show earlier this week. This car will be introduced to the Brazilian automobile market first towards at the end of this year. China and India will witness the launch by the beginning of the year 2013. Ford EcoSport’s Indian version will come in both the petrol and diesel variants, whereas China will receive only the petrol variant. The firm has big hopes with the automobile markets of India and China for its worldwide sales where it has an intention to increase the sales of cars close to 8 million units which would be a rise of almost 50 percent by the year 2015. As of now, the firm is seeing a rise in overall yearly sales in the Asian Pacific Region which has grown to 31 million by the year 2011 from the 12 million in the year 2000.
