Ford Halts Production of Figo Hatch

According to news reports on the web, Ford India has stopped production of its Figo hatchback in the Indian market. The reason for this decision seems to be the continuous drop in Figo sales over the past few years. In July this year, the company was able to sell only 463 units of the car in India.

Ford will now replace the Figo hatchback with the Figo Aspire compact sedan and the new 2015 Figo hatchback which will be launched sometime later this year. The Figo Aspire sedan will hit the Indian market just 5 days from now on August 12th.

The new Figo hatchback and the Aspire sedan will have many similarities. For instance, the hatchback will be powered by the same 1.2-liter petrol engine that produces 86.76bhp of peak power and a 112Nm of peak torque as well as the 1.5-liter diesel that produces 98bhp of peak power and 215Nm of peak torque. Both the engines will be mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. Apart from these both the cars will share many styling and design similarities as well.
