Cheers to the fans of Mustang in India. It isn’t the first time company is affirming the launch of Mustang for this country. Earlier, months back, a report by a reputed source also abreacted us the same confirmation. Once again, at the opening ceremony of new manufacturing plant in Sanand, Gujarat, had burst this news from the stable of Ford India.
Including this rear-engined machine, the American carmaker too said of improvising on the lineup by launching three more models during the year: Figo Aspire compact sedan, new Figo hatchback and Endeavour SUV.
Taking the Mustang first, launch will happen by Diwali, and the price tag will attract only serious performance buyers in the country. Mostly, we all loved the coupe (hardtop) version, but in international market the Cabriolet (convertible) trim is also on sale, which we aren’t sure of coming to India. Mentioned below are the details of engine options the Mustang will hold:
5.0-litre V8 – 429bhp
3.7-litre V6 – 296bhp
2.3-litre (4-cyl) EcoBoost – 306bhp
Ford was very much underrated due to a lack of seller from this segment, the compact sedan. Soon, this complaint too will vanish like a smoke in the air. For India, the Blue Oval logoed carmaker has prepared Figo Aspire, which will scale under 4-metres to gain the tax benefits. The engine options of 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel may make to the list. There are strong speculations of 1.2-litre petrol to see the 6-speed double-clutch automatic transmission. Rivals like Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent, Maruti Swift Dzire, and Tata Zest are strongly bolted on its list.
The fresh face of Endeavour SUV will click the pace against old pals like Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero, SsangYong Rexton and others. Already the tests have commenced on Indian roads. New front grill, daytime running lights and fresh set of alloy wheels will ally this plush SUV for a longer course of time in the market. After all, engine options of 2.2-litre and 3.2-litre four-cylinder diesel with manual and automatic gearbox may remain the way they are as of now on the sales floor.
Ford Figo hatchback will escape from the Ford’s closet by mid-2015 pacing against the likes of Swift, new Jazz, Chevrolet Sail, Nissan Micra and Renault Pulse. Engine options of petrol and diesel both will come along. The newness about the car is a big ticket which all of us may wait impatiently to see at the launch. The prominent front grille like Aston-Martin is a one such promises from Ford for the new Figo hatchback.
Hence, Ford India packs a lot of excitement on-board this year. The mix of refreshes and new ones assures increase of numbers in its market share this time.
