Foton, Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd., a Chinese automaker that is planning to setup its foothold in India, with the initial foothold in the Western India, means the Pune and its nearby areas.
Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd. is a subsidiary of Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co., Ltd., and has an active collaboration with Daimler.
Those who are quite excited about it, let’s inform, Foton is a specialized manufacturer of trucks, buses, SUVs and agricultural machinery.
Hopefully, the Foton pickup truck Tunland which earlier too was spied around Pune, is spotted one more time in Pune and now it was without camouflages.
The spied vehicle is Tunland Twincab, the double cabin version, and if looked at the interiors which we had posted sometime during the last year, it seemed to have a decent cabin flair appealing even to the lifestyle buyers as well, apart from the commercial buyers.
The pickup boasts a 2.8L turbocharged diesel developed by Cummins, capable of turning the table with 160bhp of power and 340Nm of peak torque mated to a five speed Getrad manual gearbox taking all the traction on front wheels. The vehicle has leaf spring rear suspension with independent on the front.
Those who looks disappointed with the font wheel traction, a four wheel drive variant is also rumoured to be in the development. ABS and EBD shall also accompany it.
The huge loading bay is grounded capable of a carrying a load of 1 ton and a towing capacity of 2.5 ton, totally pushing itself to a greater use of the massive greater 5.3m length well-planted on 16-inch wheels. Those ergonomics should make it stand apart from the crowd, but maybe a bit devilish for our kind of roads.
Tunland will be stating its rivalry against Mahindra’s Scorpio Getaway, Tata Xenon XT and Isuzu D-Max Space Cab. More importantly, the company’s plant in Pune is the first plant production bay of Foton outside China.
Though, the camouflages are down, waiting when the full-showdown will be seen; is it going to happen anytime soon?
Note: Foton shall keep its pricing and marketing strategy right, for sure the vehicles is going to get success, because the market in India became quite adaptive to these sort of pickup trucks in the recent times.
