Foundation Stone of PSA Peugeot Citroen to Be Laid At Sanand Facility Today

PSA Peugeot Citroen, a French automobile manufacturing company will begin work on its facility at Sanand today. On the 1st of September, the company announced that Gujarat will be a home for its Indian plant. Peugeot will be investing Rs. 4000 Crores in this production plant, which will develop 1.65 lakh vehicles yearly. In October 2011, Ford Motors, an American automobile manufacturer started working on its second plant at Sanand, which will introduce its first vehicle in the year 2014. Jean Raphael Peytregnet, Consulate General of France, Mumbai; Vincent Rambaud, Peugeot’s Director General and Gregoire Olivier, Member of Managing  Board, vendors and supplier to the firm will be there at the underpinning stone-laying rite.

The PSA Peugeot Citroen will develop and design D-Class, B-Class and C-Class vehicles at it 600 acre site next to Nano facility in Sanand for the Indian market. The first model called 508 will be launched in the year 2014. After couple of years, Peugeot will be introducing electric and diesel cars to India. It has tied up with BMW for gasoline and Ford for diesel engines. PSA Peugeot Citroen is a French automaker of motorcycles and cars marketed under Citroen and Peugeot brands. It is headquartered in 16th arrondissement of Paris and is the 2nd biggest automobile manufacturing company based in Europe and 8th in the world. The company is enthusiastically committed to create its market sales and presence in plenty of rapidly growing developing regions and countries of the world. This led to large investments and partnerships in China, South America and Iran.
