Acclaimed gold leafing artist Shehzad Khan gave an entirely new look to a Fiat car of yester years by decorating it with real 24 carat gold and silver leafing.
Shehzad khan’s Mumbai based flagship store, the Gold Leafing Studio, has great expertise in infusing the ancient art of gold leafing into modern-age decor. This time, the studio gave a Midas touch to the FIAT 1100-103 an 1100cc, 36 PS, four-door car, and called it the Golden Vintage Fiat Car.
The artist used gold leaves of 98-99 per cent purity, beat them into a semi-transparent foils, and then pasted them to the surface of the car with an adhesive strong enough to withstand all climatic changes.
Shehzad Khan, chief artist at the Gold Leafing Studio, said that the Golden Vintage Fiat Car was their attempt to reproduce and relive Mumbai’s golden era. He said the gold leafing attributed to the lavishness and autocracy that the car had enjoyed during its era.
While talking on the topic, Khan added, “We think that imagination is probably where creativity starts, which in order nurtures art and this is our way of paying a mark of respect to the maximum city.”
Imran Khan, principal artist at the Gold leafing Studio, also said that the studio offers artwork ranging from gold, silver, and bronze, copper to champagne applying different textures to produce entirely varied and amazingly dissimilar looks.
The Rose Gold Vintage car will be exhibited at Index 2012 exhibition from October 18th to 22nd at BKC Ground, Bandra East.
