The Indian division of Japanese automobile manufacturer, Honda is ready to introduce the upgraded model of its midsize sedan, the Honda City in the Indian market in December 2011. The redesigned model was expected to be launched in October 2011, however was delayed due to lack of components in Honda’s Thailand facility. The company procures a lot of components from Thailand, but because of the floods in the country, they delayed the introduction of their flagship model till January. The Japanese automobile manufacturer has now highly developed the introduction of redesigned Honda City till mid-December. It was introduced in Thailand in the month of September and will have enhanced localization in India. Powering the Honda City will be a 1.5 liter i-VTEC engine with maximum output of 146 newton meters of torque and 118ps of power. The engine is paired with synchronized five-speed forward and one reverse transmission and offers the fuel economy of around 15.5 kilometers per litre.
The cabin inside new Honda City looks attractive with sophisticated looking meter design, beige upholstery, dual tone dashboard and highly developed audio system. It also offers car enthusiasts with comfortable, elegant and voluptuous lounge. The highly developed integrated stereo system is the first exclusive car audio of the world to digital media. It provides customers the liberty to integrate newer technologies, including iPod, cellphone with MP3 player, MP3 player and USB flashdrive.
The production of Honda Jazz and Honda Brio is significantly delayed because of the lack of components. There will be a slight change in the interior and exterior of Honda City with sunroof and leather seats on V trim level. The next generation City will be powered a diesel engine, which will help Honda to compete in progressively more competitive C-segment. The customers in India are having an enhanced preference for diesel vehicles, and sales of Honda have been drastically affected, owing to all petrol models.
