The car manufacturing firm Honda has re-launched its sedan Honda Civic in the automobile market of China with the name Dongfeng Ciimo. This has come in the spot where most of the car makers introduce their car first in the western nations and then come to India somewhere after 8 to 10 months. At times these models are not even launched in India as well. However, few of the car makers have introduced their fresh and latest models in the automobile market of India. The latest is Maruti, while Toyota is in the line with its updated version of Qualis and Chevrolet is following them with its Tavera. The launch of fresh models does not signifies that the firm is about to stop production of the car models which are running on the roads at present. As a matter of fact, as long as there would be a demand of good mechanical capabilities and fuel efficiency they will stay tight at their places.
The premium sedan of Honda, the Honda Civic’s current model in Indian automobile market is the eighth version and as per confirmed reports it also has a much better design than the newly launched version in the Japanese automobile market. Honda Civic introduced as Dongfeng Ciimo in China will be marketed as a sedan for the middle class of China. The car will be manufactured under the joint venture of Dongfeng and Honda. The sedan will have an i-VTEC, 1.8-litre engine beneath its hood that claims to deliver a fuel efficient mileage of 14 kmpl.
The Dongfeng Ciimo’s ambience is the same as the Honda Civic that runs on the roads of India, but the Chinese version will not have the steering mounted control like the latter. An option of manual transmission and automatic transmission will be at the disposal of the customer to choose from at an approximate price of Rs.9.3 lakh for the variant of entry level.
The re-launch concept of the car companies is getting them a good amount of business where they do not have to scrap the model but just add on a few cosmetic implants and re-launch them to become a new product. This does get a fair amount of business in place of spending time, money and effort on something absolutely new.
