After a really long wait, the car of the moment is finally here. Honda launched its very first diesel sedan- the ‘Amaze’ in India yesterday. With a really tempting starting price tag of Rs. 5.99 lac, the brand new sedan comes with all the comforts that you would look for in a stylish compact sedan in this price-range.
As a consumer, you will certainly be spoilt for choice with the different color options, interior options as well as the fuel and transmission options that are being offered with the Honda Amaze. The Japanese carmaker is offering the Amaze in six different colours along with two different options for interior shades. However, if you have a thing for petrol-driven cars and want the Amaze to run on petrol, don’t worry because Honda has got you covered. The Honda Amaze comes in 10 variants- 4 petrol, 2 petrol-automatic and 4 diesel versions.
One of the most defining features of the Honda Amaze is the powerful class-leading 1.5-litre diesel engine which generates peak power of 100 PS and peak torque of 200 Nm. But wait, there’s more- the diesel-variant of the Honda Amaze offers mileage of 25.8kmpl which is the highest in its category.
With the Amaze, Honda is also stepping up its efforts to enhance its customer satisfaction initiatives by offering a 2-year maintenance package, road side assistance as well as an extended warranty scheme.
On the other hand, the petrol variants of the Honda Amaze run on a 1.2 Litre iVTEC Petrol Engine, which generates peak power of 88 PS and peak torque of 109 Nm which is great but does not really match up to the might of the diesel-variant. What’s more, the petrol variants of the Amaze come with an option for 4 Speed Automatic transmission option and 5- speed manual transmission. The automatic and manual versions of the Amaze offer ARAI-tested mileage of 15kmpl and 18kmpl respectively.
The all-new Honda Amaze comes packed with several exciting features including body-colored ORVMs along with integrated blinkers and 14-inch alloy wheels. Although this compact sedan is less than 4 metres in length, the Amaze also comes with several features like ABS+EBD Driver’s seat height adjustment, dual-airbags, 400-litres of spacious boot space and rear demister.
The petrol version of the Amaze sedan starts at Rs. 4.99 lac and goes up to Rs. 7.50 lac. The base version of the Amaze’s diesel-variant carries a more expensive price tag of Rs. 5.99 lac. Moving upward, the EX Diesel is priced at Rs. 6.24 lac, the S Diesel at Rs. 6.67 lac and the top-variant VX Diesel at Rs. 7.60 lac (ex-showroom, Delhi.)
