Honda has provided a glimpse of its plans for the new Jazz based SUV with the new Urban SUV concept it revealed at the Detroit motor show. Honda has already confirmed that the production model will be closely related to the concept. The production model is all set to hit Japan later this year, European model is ought to hit market by 2014 and US market by early 2014.
The newly unveiled Urban SUV concept is about 4300mm long and will be serving as the platform for the next generation of Jazz. The next generation of the Honda Jazz hatchback will be revealed in 2014. Honda is also planning a saloon on the same platform for the emerging markets.
All the locals markets will be given full fledge right to develop and change is according to the local conditions. The interior and exterior styling may also differ depending upon the market.
Takanobu Ito, CEO, Honda City has already described the global small car platform as an important strategic step for Honda to improve its sales from the current four million to seven million units annually by 2017. He also regarded Jazz SUV as the younger brother of the new CR-V.
