The Elite went not so elite on the sales chart, newly launched Hyundai i20 aggressively ate up all the sales numbers within a jiff after the launch. As stated, the bookings commenced on August 11, it clocked approximately 12,000 bookings within the timeframe having a price starting tag of Rs 4.89 lakh ex-showroom Delhi.
The launch of the new Hyundai premium hatchback was actually the global premiere of the model. India remained one of the major markets for i20 till date, so giving us a first attention in the launch was duly expected.
The global debut will happen at the 2014 Paris Motor Show.
The new design language casted a spell for the rest. Top-end trim gets features like automatic headlights, reverse camera, double airbags, ABS, rear AC vents, electric-folding ORVMs, keyless entry and climate control.
Power to it comes from a 1.2L petrol motor churning out 82bhp of max power, while the diesel motor turns out to be very progressive with a 1.4L of 89bhp. Both of them gets a 6-speed manual gearbox, the tint of an automatic is not raised yet.
The others of the same category like Volkswagen Polo facelift, Fiat Punto Evo and Maruti Swift, which is just about to get a facelift in India soon, are its major rivals.
