Renowned car manufacturer Hyundai will use the 2012 Paris Motor Show to introduce the world to its i20 WRC (World Rally Championship) car.
The Hyundai i20 WRC model will reportedly be a decidedly tuned variant of the car’s showroom model. The South Korea-based automaker has yet to reveal the specifications of the WRC variant, but some reports suggest that the WRC i20 will come equipped with a turbocharged petrol engine that will be able to deliver a maximum power of 200bhp with immensely smooth ride as well as handling capabilities.
The WRC version of the Hyundai i20 car will compete with the likes of Volkswagen Polo-R.
The Hyundai i20, which is currently under development in the company’s Offenbachl, Germany-based facility, will debut in the prestigious World Rally Championship competition starting with the 2014 season.
If the report is genuine, then Hyundai will be the second car maker to participate in the 2014 World Rally Championship. Japanese car manufacturer Toyota has already announced that its Yaris-based racer would run in World Rally Championship season of 2014. Acclaimed car manufacturer Volkswagen is also mulling plans to enter the World Rally Championship.
The 2012 Paris Motor Show is all set to start on 29th of September and run through 14th of October this year.
