Hyundai reveals i10 ‘Grand’

After the end number of spy shots, Hyundai had finally given us what we had been drooling over days. Yes, no doubt that the Korean carmaker revealed the most awaited “i10 Grand” which was codenamed as BA and in some of the instances it was also tempted to be called i15. However, we are satisfied that Hyundai tagged it as ‘Grand’; otherwise its unusual sense of coping the naming sensations is not as strong as its competitors.

Hopefully, the Autocar India had concluded this news first, and had given us a sneak peek of it via their video, but don’t be over excited; the car is still under heavy dose of cladding which did not finally unwrapped the vehicle. The image that we had posted maybe some of the nearest rendering, yet the features that we are going to mention are expectedly of the actual statement.

Cooled glove box, auto folding ORVMs with dwelled signal indicators, rear AC vents, 1 GB storage memory for everyone’s music needs, parking sensors and many more, are added to make the competition more aggressive in respective hatchback segmental context (especially against Swift).

When compared to the existing generation i10, the ‘Grand’ bonus is 100mm longer and 70mm wider measurement, which means the more legroom at rear passenger seat, and also witnesses the large window glass to suit the airiness stringent of Indian audience.

Engine specifications for the petrol version to remain same with that of the 1.2L Kappa motor of 85 PS, the diesel version will see new ray of sunshine with the 1.1L jag producing 70 PS at its best. There are no official figures confirmed but we are sure to get our hands on it when the vehicle will be officially revealed at upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show.

14” alloys, start/stop button, smart key, Airbags, and ABS are some of the added sorts that fit the slot in last.

India will be its recipient for the September ’13 launch but we expect Europeans may get it first than others.  It is also said that carmaker may replace all i10s throughout the globe with the Grand version, where the 2015 roadmap of bigger platform also lays down guidelines to a sub four meter sedan, a seven seater crossover and an but obvious compact SUV, which the upcoming markets like India desires a lot.

Price expectation goes for Rs. 4.4 lakh at the time of launch for i10 Grand.
