As reported earlier, Hyundai Motors India is busy upgrading its portfolio as the industry is switching from BS4 to BS6. Hyundai Motors after the BS6 launch of their cars like Creta and Verna is all set to launch their once iconic car Santro with BS6 emission norms. Now the company has launched The BS6 Hyundai Santro CNG in India with prices starting at Rs 5.84 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The CNG variant is available in two trims including Magna and Sportz, priced at Rs 5.84 lakh and Rs 6.20 lakh respectively.
Features on the BS6 Hyundai Santro remain unchanged when compared to the BS4 versions. The car doesn’t feature any changes, well, save for the updated engine. So, the BS6 Hyundai Santro still comes sporting the same cascading grille encased in chrome, swept-back headlamps, turn indicators on ORVMs, etc. A few feature highlights of the model include a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink, keyless entry, rear AC vents, rear washer and wiper, dual front airbags, a rearview camera, rear parking sensors and steering mounted controls.
For safety, Hyundai has equipped the Santro BS6 with the driver-side airbag, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensor, seat-belt reminder for driver and front passenger, speed alert system, and more as standard across the entire range.
And finally, the engine, the new Santro comes powered by the same 1.1-litre MPI petrol engine albeit in a BS6-compliant avatar. The engine still delivers the same figures as before, i.e. 68 bhp with 99 Nm of peak torque. The CNG model, on the other hand, belts out 58 bhp and a maximum torque of 84 Nm. Transmission options include a five-speed manual and an AMT for the petrol model; the CNG model is offered with only a five-speed gearbox.
