We recently reported about Maruti Suzuki planning to open their third plant in Gujarat. While Maruti had not given any exact details back then, it has now come to light that Maruti will announce the location of their third plant in three months time. The manufacturer’s senior officials held a meeting with Gujarat’s CM Narendra Modi yesterday morning.
The chairman of the company, R. C. Bhargava was quoted as saying that they are currently looking out for a land for their plant. This process will take around 3 months. They are also expanding and investing around Rs.6,000 crore. According to reports, this investment does not include their new plant expansion in Gujarat.
There are also reports, that the Gujarat government will provide the company with a 500 acres plot that is already used by the Mundra port for exporting small cars. Their new manufacturing facility will be the company’s seventh plant and their first outside of Haryana. The incentives offered by the government to Maruti Suzuki have not yet been finalized.
