India Bound Honda BR-V Compact SUV Officially Unveiled

Honda has lifted the curtains off its BR-V compact SUV at the ongoing GIIAS in Indonesia. The car will make its way into the Indian market early next year. This Brio based SUV, once launched in the Indian market, will take on the likes of Hyundai Creta, Maruti S-Cross and the Renault Duster.

The BR-V, when it is launched in India, will be made available in both diesel and petrol versions. The petrol variant is slated to be powered by a 1.5-liter i-VTEC 117bhp engine with peak torque of 145Nm. The diesel one, on the other hand, could be powered by a 1.5-liter i-DTEC 99bhp unit with peak torque of 200Nm. The cars will be fitted with either a six-speed manual or a CVT transmission option, with the diesel one getting the six-speed manual one fitted in it to compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta.

The safety features that BR-V in Indonesia comes with include ABS, dual front airbags, EBD Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) and a hill start assist. The multi-functional display as well as a rear air-conditioner was also there in the current BR-V. The top end BR-Vs could get features like automatic climate control. Stop/start buttons and cruise control systems.
