Travelling big had become a huge part of the Indian car market. Most car buyers in India vouch for the space more than anything, and that seems the reason MPVs with small engine displacements are making way to our shores in numbers. Though, Ertiga is leader of this segment, but the likes of Honda Mobilio and Datsun GO Plus cannot be ruled out for their noteworthy performance. Well, a one more addition to this list is just about to happen, Renault Lodgy MPV nearly ready to move into the space with two engine options. It will be the same 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine of Duster under the hoods developed with the options of 85bhp and 110bhp mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Right now, the company hadn’t informed about the petrol motor making its way here.
Seen here is the standard model unlikely to the top-end Stepway trim that boasts roof rails, silver skid plates and side body cladding for more off-road posture. The RxZ trim spotted sports 15-inch alloy wheels, power windows, steering-mounted control, touchscreen navigation system, tray tables the rear passenger, roof-mounted AC vents for the backseats, reverse parking sensors and lot more.
Hence, the source had tested it. Launch, it said to happen at the end of this month or during the initial days of April with then speculated price of Rs 7-10 lakh (ex-showroom). This seems a new bread-winner for the family of Renault India. In fact, this year the automaker is also in the league of rolling out a small codenamed as XBA by the end of this year for mass buyer market. Apparently, the competition is really meant to get heated soon.
