India to get the all new BMW 3 series on July 27th

BMW’s all new 3 series sedan has been making headlines because of its launch in the Indian market for quite a while. But this time, the company has come up with good news for the BMW lovers in India. The carmaker has made it official that the car is going to be launched on 3rd of August. Word for now is, the German automaker’s Indian arm, BMW India, has dispatched few units of the BMW F30 3 series to its dealerships in order to offer test drives to its potential customers. Official statements have confirmed that the car will be officially revealed on 27th of July. It was followed by confirmation that the car’s pricing will be made official on 3rd itself.

Although the car is company’s sustenance, the Indian market will be getting the car via CKD route. BMW’s Chennai facility will then be responsible for assembling the vehicle. The newer 3 Series model has been found to be around 37mm wider at the front and 47mm broader at the rear than the outgoing model. As far as the length and the wheelbase of the car are concerned, the BMW new 3 Series has been introduced with an increased length of 93mm and 50mm respectively. Apart from these, the legroom has been increased by 18mm and the knee room by 8mm. The dimensional increment quotient doesn’t end here. The buyers of the car, who usually like to get themselves the passenger seat, will now enjoy extra headroom as well. Although dimensions have been increased almost everywhere in the car, the new car is actually lighter in weight by about 40kg.

Under the hood, the carmaker has introduced two engine versions for the new car. 3 trim level-diesel avatar and 2 trim level-petrol versions.  The BMW 328i series of petrol variant features a turbo engine capable of developing 245bhp power, while the new 320d series diesel series will be featuring trial and test certified 4-cylinder diesel engine that can churn out peak power of 180bhp. Both the engines are, however, coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission, but at the same time they are overwhelmingly fuel efficient. The 320d is reported have a mileage of 18.88kmpl while the 328i will give 14.79kmpl.
