The much awaited Maruti Suzuki Celerio hatchback has been launched by the company at the ongoing Indian Auto Expo in Greater Noida. The car has been priced at Rs.3.90 lacs and bokkings for which had already begun a few days back. With the launch of the Celerio, Maruti is looking to take on the Hyundai i10 in the Indian auto market and will act as a replacement for the Maruti A-Star hatch.
The wheelbase of the new Maruti Celerio is 3600mm long and 1600wide. The car uses the same three-cylinder K-Next petrol engine of the Maruti Wagon R with a peak output of 68PS @6000rpm and a peak torque of 90Nm @3500rpm. The car will only be available in petrol and there are currently no plans of launching a diesel version of the car as yet.
The Celerio will be made available in six different versions in three different trim levels – Lxi,Vxi and Zxi. Both the Vxi as well as the Zxi versions will be available in both manual and Automatic Manual Transmission (AMT).
