Jeep India has officially launched the BS6 version of their SUV Compass. Jeep Compass wasn’t really doing well as it faced competition from the newcomers in the category such as Seltos, Hector and Harrier. Jeep India has finally revealed that its BS6 Compass line-up is priced between Rs 16.49 lakh and Rs 24.99 lakh. This means that the BS6 Compass range now starts Rs 89,000 higher, with the BS6 Compass diesel starting at Rs 17.99 lakh, which is a Rs 1.38 lakh increase over its BS4-spec counterpart.
Jeep made their entry into the Indian market few years ago. They entered market with a very successful product Jeep Compass. It became popular among the buyers within a very short span of time. With the BS6 updates, Jeep has made some changes to the trim levels of the Compass. With the BS6 version, Jeep has discontinued base Sport variant. The trim level now starts from Sport Plus which offers more features in comparison the discontinued Sport trim. The Sport Plus trim offers alloy wheels, touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone AC and so on. Along with Sport, Jeep has also removed Longitude (O) and Limited variant too.
Jeep Compass BS6 is now offered in Sport Plus, Longitude, Longitude Plus and Limited Plus trims. Jeep Compass comes with six airbags, rear disc brakes, traction control, ESC as standard. The engine and the gearbox on offer remains unchanged. The engine has been slightly tuned to meet the BS6 emission norms.
It continues to get the same 1.4 litre turbocharged petrol engine and the 2.0 litre turbocharged diesel engine. The petrol engine generates 160 Bhp and 250 Nm of torque. The diesel version produces a maximum of 170 Bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque. Both petrol and diesel variants of the Compass get manual and a DCT gearbox option and the diesel variants except for the Sport Plus get 4×4 option.
