Fiat has already revealed their plans for bringing Jeep brand to the Indian soil. Jeep will be bringing two of its models Grand Cherokee and Wrangler to the Indian market. for now it seems that the launch is quite near as both the vehicles has been spotted testing twice in Pune itself, first by an AutoCar reader and the second one was by a member of Team BHP.
Like said earlier the Wrangler will be supporting a 2.8 litre engine which is capable of delivering the maximum output of about 200 bhp and the peak torque of 460 Nm. On the other hand Grand Cherokee will be powered by a 3.0 litre turbocharged V6 diesel engine that is capable of producing 273 bhp and the peak torque of 550 Nm.
Company has yet not revealed a single word about pricing but according to the rumors, Jeep Wrangler should be priced somewhere around Rs. 25 to 28 lakhs and Grand Cherokee will be costing more than 55 lakhs. Initially both of these vehicles will come as CBUs (Completely built Units). It is expected that these vehicles might hit the market at the end of the year but nothing has yet been confirmed.
Fiat that has also unveiled its plans for launching several new products in Indian market has also confirmed that it is also considering the launch of a compact SUV by 2015 in the Indian market. Fiat Punto Abarth is another vehicle that has been planned of India, most probably it will appear before the end of this year.
