After a bunch of teaser images, Ferrari has finally pulled the curtains down on the much anticipated Flagship Hyper car, the LaFerrari, at the Geneva Motor Show (GMS 2013). According to the Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo, the company chooses the name LaFerrari because the name defines the company, which means ‘excellence’.
Ferrari’s first production hybird is a mid engined, combination of 786 bhp 6.3 liter V12 with a 120 kw (equivalent to 161 bhp) electric motor with a total output of 950 bhp. Producing max power output at 9000 revolutions per minute (rpm) and redlining at 9250 revolutions per minute (rpm), the direct-injection V-12 is development of the F-12 Berlinetta’s engine.
Transferred to the wheels via a 7-speed, double Dutch gear case, the combined torque output is 918 kgm in excess produced at 6750 revolutions per minute (rpm). It is cause of this Ferrari Flagship goes from standstill to 100 kph in less than 3 sec, 200 kilometers per hour (km/h) in under 7 sec and 300 kilometers per hour (km/h) in less then 15 sec, which is a full 5 sec faster round the company’s Fiorano test track than its predecessor, the Enzo, and 3 sec faster then the current F-12 Berlinetta, the fastest Ferrari yet.
Like the 2007 Enzo, the technology used in the LaFerrari is also expected to filter into the company’s other new launches over the years. If HY-KERS make way to the Ferrari’s next generation of ‘everyday’ muscles, well then do not be surprised.
Ferrari is going to produce only 499 units of LaFerrari. Each single unit will cost £1.3 million (9.29 crores) and as per Ferrari, many of them are sold.
While taking about the new car, Luca di Montezemolo, Ferrari’s president, stated, “We preferred to call this model LaFerrari as it is the maximum expression of what describes our firm – superiority in terms of technical modernization, presentation, styling and the pure excitement of driving.”
“Directed at our collectors, this is a really extraordinary vehicle that includes superior solutions that, in the coming time, will discover their path on to the rest of the range, and it symbolizes the standard for the whole automotive business. LaFerrari is the premium expression of our firm’s distinctive, unparalleled engineering and design expertise, including that developed in Formula 1,” Luca di Montezemolo, Ferrari’s president added up.
Luca di Montezemolo also stated that the users will be amazed after seeing this exciting vehicle on the Geneva Motor Show (GMS 2013).
