Before the Sheikhs of Dubai could think of, let’s do it, must be going on inside the head of Lamborghini’s top brass of Italy. Proving the same, Lamborghini donated the police version of its newest super sports car, the Huracán LP 610-4 Polizia.
Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, handed over the car to the head of the Italian State Police, Prefect Alessandro Pansa, in a ceremony in Rome at the ‘‘Museo delle Auto Storiche della Polizia di Stato’’.
‘‘We have a strong and fitting relationship with the Italian State Police. The new Lamborghini Huracan stands for Italian super sports car excellence and we are proud to provide it to the Italian State Police to carry out the specialist tasks these police cars undertake.’’ said Stephan Winkelmann.
The new Huracán LP 610-4 is touted to replace the Gallardos used by the Italian police force since 2004 and 2008, which features a 5.2 l V10 engine with 610 hp, and reaches a top speed over 202 mph. The new Lamborghini Huracán police car will be serving the force by the end of this year, and would prove of great importance in reducing the number of crimes or accidents and such sorts of activities on Italian roads.
‘‘Today is an important day, since two Italian excellences meet and strengthen their relationship which started in 2004 with the handing over of the Lamborghini Gallardo to the Italian State Police. In the last ten years, the Italian State Police used the car for prevention purposes and in order to enhance street security.’’ said the Head of the Italian State Police, Prefect Alessandro Pansa.
On the outer, Lamborghini Huracan is painted in ‘‘blu Polizia’’ along with the white stripes and lettering following the Huracán’s dynamic design language, and to in the fleet of Italian police vehicles as well.
The cabin is a reflection of the exterior, we mean, adored to do the duty of police vehicles. For recording the video evidence of any transgression, a video system is positioned in the center of the cabin with a camera fitted next to the rear view mirror, and a computer and recording equipment behind the seats. In addition to it, using radio data transmission, the video system in the Huracán Polizia transfers its images in real time to the relevant police station. The police official stores those videos and uses them for automatic number plate retrieval. This information can be used for immediate identification of stolen vehicles.
Alongside, the donated Huracna is also fitted with an array of other equipments, such as a gun holster, police radio equipment and the ‘‘Paletta’’: the traditional hand-held stop sign used to advise motorists and traffic offenders to pull over. Officers on duty can show the offenders their misdeeds using a removable screen of the car to clear misconceptions at the point of time.
Apart from discharging the duty of a police vehicle, the Lamborghini Huracan Polizia is delved to be used regularly for urgent medical transportation. The luggage compartment in the front of the vehicle is equipped with a specialized refrigeration system which is meant to safely deliver the donor organs, a very intelligent feature for the course of emergency. And for some extreme emergencies, there is also a life-saving defibrillator.
