JLR has launched its new Range Rover in India. The new Range Rover has been re-designed to become more competent as a luxury car with genuine on road capability, but exclusive off-road features. The model is lighter, spacious and more refined.
The company also claims that the new Range Rover is the world’s first SUV with unique all-aluminum monocoque chassis. The new car is also lighter than the previous model by over 250 kg.
The new 40mm longer wheelbase blesses the new Range Rover with improved cabin space and it has been made to stand tall with the Bentley Flying Spur and Mercedes S-Class in terms of ride quality, tire and wind noise.
The latest Range Rover features new-generation Terrain Response 2 system which also has an auto setting which analyses the terrain and can switch on 5 different off-road settings depending upon the road conditions.
The new Range Rover will be made available in the Indian market with a 4.4 litre V8 turbo diesel engine that will churn out about 334bhp of power and another 503 bhp 5.0 litre supercharged petrol V8. The base variant known as V8 diesel Vogue comes with a price tag of Rs.1.72 crore. The V8 diesel Autobiography trim is tagged with a price of Rs.1.79 crore and the supercharged V8 petrol in autobiography trim will be priced at Rs.1.84 crore.
Another V6 3.0 litre diesel variant will make its way in to the Indian market by June 2013.
