The Land Rover Discovery Sport will be launched in India on September 2nd, but the car has already raked in 200 advance bookings. Like all Land Rovers, the Discovery Sport will also be tuned for off-road driving and thrill seekers can take it off the beaten road whenever they want.
The Discovery Sport incorporates the very latest design features of Land Rover. The Indian one, i.e. the one that would be launched in India, will have dimension of 4600mm, 2173mm and 1724mm for length, width and height respectively. The car will have a ground clearance of 212mm. Since it is based on a lighter structure, the weight of the Discovery Sport will be comparatively lower. The car will be offered with optional 5+2 seating capability.
It is expected that the Discovery Sport will be offered in two different engine configurations – one with a TD4 150PS (148bhp peak power) and another with TD4 180PS diesel (178bhp peak power). The petrol 150PS engine will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission, while the diesel 180PS one will be mated to a nine-speed automatic gearbox.
The car is being brought to India through the CKD route and final assembly will be done here. Because of this we expect the price of the Land Rover Discovery Sport to hover around the 50lakh mark.
