Yesterday, Mumbaikars witnessed something that they are not used to seeing so much on the city streets – an F1 racing car driven by none other than Lewis Hamilton. A city which is notorious for its heavy traffic jams, the presence of an F1 car was surely a welcome break for its people.
Hamilton was in the city as part of a promotional event called Vodafone Speed Fest. Thousands of F1 fans gathered to witness the event and Hamilton surely didn’t disappoint them. He enthralled the crowd by displaying them his skills which has made him a world champion.
The event took place in the city’s BKC Road (Bandra-Kurla Complex) and was flagged of by state Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan. Light drizzle took place before the start of the event, but it surely didn’t dampen the spirits of the thousands of fans present there. Hamilton went on to complete multiple laps as fans cheered for him.
Hamilton greeted fans at the end of his last lap and took some of them for a spin who had won a contest. In his words the event was ‘unforgettable’.
On this occasion, he did mention that he is still undecided as to which team he will race for in the next season. He went on to say that he was happy with his performance this season, but room for improvement was still there.
