Mahindra had loads of stuffs cooking inside its vessel, at the R&D facility in Chennai. The latest controversy to fall off it is ‘the Bolero facelift’.
However, regulars would remember, earlier, the same news too was there in the hype for a brief amount of time, but Scorpio facelift had taken over.
Returning to the pavilion once again, the Bolero facelift is spied under heavy camouflages doing test rounds in Chennai near to the facility.
However, there aren’t any confirmed speculations about the changes to be made on Bolero facelift. The reports in the industry say, it could be a sub-4m vehicle with short overhangs and a very compact rear quarter glass to be suggesting the same. Underneath, it could have a new hydroformed ladder frame chassis. And there is also a possibility that the vehicle will share Quanto’s 1.5-liter three-cylinder diesel engine mated to a five-speed manual or a new AMT.
At present, the Bolero comes in two body lengths – Bolero and Bolero Plus, where the same variant plan could be lent for the successor, with a four-cylinder engine used on the higher capacity variant. The compact version could emerge first before the other variants.
Bolero facelift is codenamed as ‘U301’ for the internal purpose, and is expected to be launched in 2015 or 2016.
Apparently, Mahindra is referred to be working on a third SUV as well – codenamed as ‘S102’, which isn’t been scrutinized under the scanner of spies yet.
