Mahindra group had always stood on forefront when it was the matter of fulfilling its social responsibility, where this time during the flash floods of Uttarakand automaker did not made any exceptions. Chairman Mr. Anand Mahindra of Mahindra Group undoubtedly announced the donation of Rs. 1 crore to the affected victims of natural calamity.
This amount of donation is made via Chief Minister’s Relief Fund that is an official account of the government to accept the donations from any other individuals apart from the government branches. The fund will go in establishing the make shift camps, and before that a major part of it will be utilized in carrying out the rescue operations and other such important activities.
After calculating the certain figures military officials who were carrying out the rescue operations stated, death toll is running in several hundred numbers but we fear the number may cross more of it while accounting those who are still missing and are stuck in some of the crucial areas.
Efforts from the side of government are in full force and the other sources are also said to be called for having an additional helping hand in the time of emergency. Recently, Agriculture Minister Harak Singh Rawat had paid a visit to the affected area and had framed it as the ‘worst tragedy of the millennium’. He further stated it will require a minimum period of five years to recover from the extensive damages caused to infrastructures in Kedarnath region, which remains the most affected one in the whole.
Lending a comment, Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra Group said, “We are shocked and grieved to learn details of the unprecedented calamity and havoc created in Uttarakhand in the wake of the recent flash floods. This unprecedented human tragedy in the Devbhoomi calls for a quick response in terms of relief for the stranded pilgrims and the unfortunate residents of the affected areas. This is a token donation from our company in response to the appeal by the state government.”
