Indian automaker Mahindra & Mahindra has revealed a new mini passenger Van called Maxximo Mini Van VX. The passenger Van has been priced at Rs. 3.7-3.8 lakhs and is available in both BSII and BSIV competent versions. The Van is powered by a two cylinder 900cc diesel engine. The new Mini Van will be in direct competition with Maruti Suzuki Omni. Speaking to the reporters on the launch, Senior VP Sales and Customer care, Mahindra & Mahindra, ArunMalhotra said that Gujarat, being the biggest market for the Vans, will be the first one to receive the vehicle and it would be followed by Rajasthan. Rest of the country will witness the launch in the next phase.
He further added that the company is mainly targeting at the small carrier users like tours and travels, school vans etc. When compared to a petrol van, Maxximo offers more fuel economy and better comfort. The van gives about 18 to 20 km per liter, which means if a customer runs the vehicle on an average about 100 km daily then he will be able to save about Rs.7000 bucks at the end of the month, when compared to the petrol van.
With the launch of this new van, Mahindra &Mahindra has made its way into a new segment which is seeing an impressive gradual growth rate of about 10% per annum. Majority of this market has been dominated by Maruti Omni and Ecco. So, it would be interesting to see the competition getting tougher between the two giants. Speaking about the market competition, Malhotra said that there are no specific plans for now. Company first wants to introduce the vehicle all over India and could ramp up the production on the basis of the demand.
