It was Indian SUV giant, Mahindra & Mahindra concluded its Monastery Escape 2012. The 10-day event, stretching from 26th July to 5th August, 2012, was held under the Mahindra Adventure brand.
The best thing of the Monastery Escape 2012 was the fleet of 20 expedition ready cars. The fleet included newly launched XUV500, Thar and Scorpio. All the cars started their journey from Delhi to Leh on 27th July and had to return back to Delhi on the last day of the event. The main challenge to the round trip was when the cars had to pass through the most deceptive passes in the Himalayas. Some of the treacherous routes in the 3000-odd kms drive included names likeBaralacha La, Tanglang La, Nakee La &Zoji La route.
With a tagline of Drive of a Lifetime, the event actually lived up to the expectation and the tagline too. The tagline was enough to make any adventure enthusiasts visualize what was actually in the box. No matter what kind of adventure enthusiast or seeker one is, be it rock climbing, long cruiserbike rides or long adventurous drives, the adventures in the Himalayashas a unique essence, which no adventurer wants to miss. The motto of the Monastery Escape 2012 was something similar; to this lifetime opportunity to drive across the mountains of the Himalayas, but with proper backup and well planned and managed halts at regular intervals.
