Mahindra and Mahindra launched SsangYong Rexton last year and have stated that it is going to increase the production of the SUV by 500 units with the intention to bring down the waiting time. Currently Rexton has a waiting period of about 4 to 8 weeks and the bookings have already reached about 1300 units by December 2012.
Speaking to the reporters, Pravin Shah, Chief Executive-Automotive division M&M said that they are expecting to increase the production up by 500 units in January. This will help them to bring down the waiting time.
He further said the demand for the SUVs like Rexton, XUV and Quanto are still good and have already increased the production earlier also. Company has already ramped up the production for Quanto in December, mainly as a measure to bring down the waiting time for customers.
Speaking about the upcoming launches in the Q1, he said that there will be two products for the Indian market, first will be the Verito compact sedan and another Mahindra E20. Talking about the sales in the last quarter, he said the passenger segment showed a growth of about 33% mainly due to the new launches in the period.
