As the festive season in India is drawing near, Indian automotive giant Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), like other manufacturers, is gearing up increased sales during the upcoming auspicious time of the Year. M&M will launch it much-anticipated compact sports utility vehicle “The Quanto” on 20th of September, with a price tag of Rs 4.75 lakh.
With that price tag, the Mahindra Quanto will be one of the cheapest compact SUVs available in the Indian market. The attractive price tag of the sub-four meter SUV will not only give it an edge of other small SUVs from rival companies but provide it with a competitive advantage over several hatchbacks as well as utility vehicles.
It is the sub-four meter length of the Mahindra Quanto that has allowed the manufacturer to price the vehicle so competitively. The sub-four meter vehicles in India are actually eligible lower excise duty in India.
The Mahindra Quanto, which was earlier known as Mini Xylo, will come equipped with a three-cylinder twin-turbo 1.5-litre diesel engine, which delivers a maximum power of 100 bhp and a top torque of 240Nm. The engine in the upcoming SUV is said to be the slimmed down variant of the popular 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel engine which is presently found in many of other Mahindra vehicles.
According to ARAI tests, the Quanto delivers a mileage of 17.3 kilometers per litre.
The list of the Quanto’s closest competitors includes the likes of Maruti Ertiga, yet-to-launched Ford EcoSport and newly introduced Renault Duster.
