The Indian market has been very disappointing for the automobile manufacturers here. Mahindra and Mahindra, a leading automobile company in the country has been hit badly by this degrading market. As per their performance reports that have reached the market, Mahindra and Mahindra has suffered a loss of 8% in its sales in June 2013 as compared to the last year. Quanto has been one of the best sellers for Mahindra post its launch last year. But recently the company has seen a great fall in its demand. Due to this the company is planning to launch its Quanto in the Nepali market by the end of this month.
Quanto is an SUV launched by Mahindra and Mahindra in the year 2012. It is somewhat on the lines of its Xylo but this has a shorter rear to qualify the car for the sub-4 meter category. In India it is available as C2, C4, C6 and C8 variants. In spite of being a sub 4 meter car it is a 7-seater SUV. Post its launch last year, Quanto recorded some great sales figures. In September the company sold 1,782 units. This was followed by a sale of 2,497 in October. Sales recorded for the month of November were of 2,297 units. But this year the sales have fallen badly. The company has sold only a 1000 units so far. Due to this M&M is planning to launch it in the blooming Nepali market.
The C4 and C8 variants will be launched into the Nepali market. These cars will be powered by the same 3 cylinder engine with a diesel carrying capacity of 1.5 litres. Both the variants will offer a 5-speed manual transmission. The cars will also have rear jump seats.
Recently Ford Ecopsort and Honda Amaze made their way into Nepal. The sub 4 meter cars are very popular in the country. With Quanto, third 4 meter car will enter in Nepal. This market shares a lot in common with the Indian market some 20 years back. But our country largely received outdated models as it was not a trusted market. Nepali market on the other hand is receiving the latest cars in the lineup in its developing phase.
