Hyundai’s upcoming small car, the Hyundai Eon will be pitched squarely against the Maruti Alto and also the Chevrolet Spark. It was only last year that the Suzuki Alto took over the mantle of the world’s largest selling compact car from the likes of Fiat Punto and also VW Golf. Hyundai has kept the first time buyers as their prime target, something which the Alto has been keeping in mind from about 11 years. It is not only taller as also wider than the Alto but also delivers better fuel efficiency what with its 21.1 kmpl ARAI certified figure. The Alto only manages 19.7 kmpl, which is also the ARAI certified figure.
The Hyundai Eon has been developed especially keeping in mind the Indian market and hence would make its debut here before it is launched in any other market. Come October 13th and all eyes would be set on the launch of the Eon. It is said to be priced below the Santro and chances are that the Santro would be phased out eventually. Expected price range of the Eon is in the regions of Rs 2.3 lakhs and it would have a better build quality as also plethora of features which the Alto cannot boast of.
