Maruti Gypsy Facelift to be there in works: Report

‘Maruti Gypsy upgrade’, the word in itself may sound a delight for many of us. It might not be not-so-immersive for the classy audience of India, who believes a lot in getting fluidic design rather than going boxy on edges.

For the aspirers, a report on internet is claiming that Maruti must have started working on the upgrades of Maruti Gypsy which the Indian carmaker was selling the same for years. Despite the thronging demand of Swift and Dzire, Gypsy has also queued up waiting period alongside them with the deliveries being given on demanded pre-orders. However, we have seen that many dealerships in India too are facing the waiting period of ‘six months’. But still one cannot find it in numbers on roads. After a bit of research work it is learnt, the off-roader of Indian carmaker possess only 1.3 liter petro engine under hoods, with no diesel option lent out in the list to counter rising prices of petrol. Well, that said maybe the sole reason for the people in India lacking interest in it.

Maruti Gypsy Facelift

Therefore to brush up the context and getting benefitted from the current segment of aspiring off-roaders, and also from some of the customer base of Mahindra Thar, Maruti can derive the ‘Gypsy upgrade’ in order to cash the materials easily and quickly.

Needed to chalk out the powerplant, we expect Maruti to retain the existing petrol engine of 1.3L under hoods of Gypsy or should check out the 1.2L G12B of Eeco, which alongside the Fiat’s 1.3L Multijet to pose as some of the best options.

However, all of us must be thinking about the pricing of the vehicle. Let’s be straight, the Gypsy measures 4,010mm in length, which is currently tending it to fall outside the sub-four meter category, making the Government to levy additional taxes on it and enhance its prices. But in upgrade, the makers can shorten the length by mutilating some of the nuts at rear bumpers up to 10mm.

Though, the Maruti has all of the things inside its organizational structure. Then we guess they must be doing, or would be in the process, to take up upgradation soon. It seems to be facing loses on the said model-plate due to the exclusion of it from one its major buyer ‘Indian military’ as a reason for the need of a more powerful vehicle. Hence, new Gypsy will help the brand to get some of the sparking responses soon.
