It has just been a couple of days that Honda Amaze has hit the shelves in the country, and it seems that it is already giving sleepless nights to its potential competitors. Automakers are already looking for strategies as to how they should take on this new Honda car.
News has surfaced that Maruti Suzuki, on its part, will offer its customers an updated version of the Swift Dzire sedan named Dzire Regal. The Dzire Regal will be a limited edition car and will only be available in petrol. The car will come with some changes on both inside and outside and will be available to buyers for a price of just Rs.5-6 lacs (ex-showroom).
Changes on the outside of the Dzire Regal might include silver grille, rear-parking sensors and body colored foldable OVRMs. On the inside, on the other hand, updates are going to include things like a touchscreen navigation system, much like the one we saw on the recently launched Maruti SX4. Apart from that the Dzire Regal will also include leather upholstery as well extra trappings at the dealer level similar to the Swift Star.
People are of the opinion that with the Dzire Regal, Maruti is actually trying to clear out inventories. They see ‘only petrol variant’ offering as being the reason for it. At just Rs.4.99 lacs, the Honda Amaze petrol variant is sure to take away some market from Dzire in the sub four-meter sedan category and this is why Maruti is trying to clear out inventories right from the word go. But on the other hand, Dzire sells around 18K units a month. So even if Honda Amaze does well in the market, it will have to go a long way to beat the Dzire.
