Maruti is one of the car manufacturers that have always aimed to render the best service to the rural markets of the country. The cars that are produced by the company also have an affordable price tag which most of the middle class families tend to get attracted to. In order to increase the sales figure of the company, Maruti now has plans of dealership in over 1 lakh villages.
It is evident that most of the car makers are trying to establish their foothold in the urban areas by manufacturing premium luxury cars, Maruti, on the other hand, is taking advantage of the rural market. Out of the total sales of the company, thirty percent of the sales come from the rural areas. Maruti is planning to achieve this goal by March 2014.
The chairman of the company has also pointed out that last year the company had reached out to over 44.000 villages and this year over 60,000 villages have been covered. Out of the 700 outlets that the company has in rural areas, almost all comprise of a service centre as well that can repair cars up to a certain extent, and especially the cars that are under warranty.
With the increasing population, the company also offers 650 mobile vans for servicing the vehicles at the customers’ house itself. The Gujarat plant of the company is not undertaking any task at the moment since there is no demand in the market, and running a new unit would create additional capacity which cannot be utilized.
