Rather than splurging money on a press launch and inviting the media personnel to write in detail about its new cars, Maruti leaves that job to general public to decide upon its new models and deliver a verdict at the sales sheet. The same trend being followed here too, Maruti is reported to have showcased the S-Cross at IIFA in Kuala Lumpur some days back.
The car is revealed amidst the fleet of Bollywood stars and other renowned personalities. After all, Maruti Suzuki is a one of the well-heeled producers of the show, so such a move was obvious from its end.
The S-Cross is touted to follow the launch soon in the coming weeks or the next couple of months at max, where one can say the car will not hit the sub-4 metre band in the country. In actual, the maker has deigned it to rival the Renault Duster, and upcoming Hyundai Creta. One cannot rule out the possibility of a bigger engine in the bay, but seems it’s all Maruti in the genes, so Fiat’s 1.3-litre Multi jet diesel engine may accompany it like the Ciaz for the top-of-line fuel-economy of 26kmpl delivered along with the power of 90PS. But that’s not all putting down a full-stop to the speculations, as some of the spies had also seen testing with a 1.6-litre diesel engine from Fiat, whereas the car unveiled at IIFA in Malaysia too was fitted with the latter sending max output of 120PS. Now, on the petrol side, there aren’t any changes witnessed, as one can rely on the same 1.4-litre engine of 93PS taking the reign here.
At the launch after couple of months from now, S-Cross of Maruti will hit the Indian sales floor with range starting from 6.5 lakh, with all the way nothing up to Rs 10 lakh.
