Ahead of its launch tomorrow, a full brochure containing detailed specifications of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz SHVS features has been leaked. The company has also started to accept advance bookings for the car. One would need to pay an amount in between Rs.11,000 to Rs.21,000 to book the car.
The new Ciaz will be made available in five different variants and will replace all the existing diesel Ciaz. The five Ciaz SHVS variants will be Vdi, Vdi (O), Vdi+, Zdi & Zdi+. The existing petrol variants will continue to operate as they are for the time being. The new Vxi(O) and Vdi(O) variants will have all the features of the standard Ciaz and in addition will also possess things like two frontal airbags and ABS.
According to the brochure, the Ciaz equipped with Suzuki’s latest SHVS technology will convert kinetic energy of the car’s moving wheels to charge the onboard battery. A unique feature of the car will be the fact that the engine will stop when the car comes to a standstill and will restart when the clutch is released by the driver. According to Maruti this helps increase fuel-economy of the car and makes the engine an efficient unit.
Engine of the hybrid Ciaz is not supposed to change. The current 1.3-liter diesel engine will be mated to the SHVS power plant of the car. As far as the price of the new Ciaz is concerned, we expect it to be priced competitively and the car may end up costing only around Rs.20000 more than existing price tag.
