It’s the end of another month, and going by the few records posted by some early bird companies, the Indian auto industry has had a great month in terms of sale. The latest company to post its sales record was Maruti, which reported a growth of 1.9% in its sales figures. The auto manufacturer saw its sales increase from 1,02,175 models in May, 2010 to 1,04,073 models in May, 2011.
The company saw its sales rise by 3.9% in the Indian auto market, from 90,041 vehicles to 93,519 vehicles, according to a statement released by the company. The company saw sales for its M800 model decline to 2,262 models, a fall of 11.6%, compared to the 2,558 models it sold in the same period last year.
Meanwhile, their sales in the A3 segment, which comprises of the Maruti DZiRE and the SX4, saw an increase of 24.2% to 13,514 models compared to the 10,883 models sold in the same period in 2010. In May, the company managed to sell around 50 models of their new Kizashi sedan that was introduced in February this year. Our team at Indiandrives had attended the launch of this sedan in Mumbai.
The company’s overall sales of passenger cars increased to 76,874 vehicles, a growth of 1%, in comparison to the 76,120 vehicles sold in the same period last year.
