With the support from the state government, Maruti is trying to regain operations at its Manesar plant. The uncertain situation of labor strike at Maruti’s Manesar Plant is expected to get over soon. The car maker is trying to revamp the production by today(August 16th) says sources. The lockout at the Manesar plant has affected around 650 auxiliary units situated in and around Gurgaon-Manesar-Dharuhera industrial region which employs millions of workers, most of which are contract workers.
Additional chief secretary, P. K. Gupta of Haryana Labor and Employment department has confirmed that the Chief Minister is in constant meetings with Maruti management to push the restoration or production at the Manesar plant as earliest as possible.
The lock-down is costing about Rs. 90 crores per day to Maruti while center and state government is losing around Rs. 15 crore per day as excise revenue and other duties. As a result of the lockout, daily production of about 1600 to 1700 units of Maruti’s popular models has been affected. Some of the popular Maruti vehicles like Swift, Swift Dezire, SX4 and A-star are manufactured at the Manesar plant which accounts for about 30 to 35% of Maruti’s total production of cars.
