Maserati continues to strike with all-new GranTurismo MC Centennial Edition models and Ghibli App inspired by historic Maserati sports luxury cars. Just one month after stunning the Geneva Motor Show with the Alfieri Concept, the automaker once again brought unannounced surprises to the Auto Show world with the global debut of GranTurismo MC Centennial Edition Range at the New York International Auto Show. True to the GranTurismo formula, the Italian tradition, which Maserati largely established, each car pays homage to generations of open and closed cars of equal measure luxury, style and performance. At their core, as always, is the authenticity of race-bred engineering which asks to be driven with passion every single day.
If one needs more Maserati style, passion and surprise, the all new Ghibli App is also enjoying its global launch in New York.
About the GranTurismo MC Centennial Edition Range
Peter M. Grady, Chief Executive Officer and President at Maserati North America, Inc. said “The GranTurismo MC Centennial range are vibrant offerings which reference the storied romance and passion of Maserati tradition. In addition to Quattroporte and Ghibli saloons, which have found a welcome reception in the market, the sporty new GranTurismo MC Centennial Edition coupes and volantes are for those who desire inspired automobiles.”
Both Centennial Edition models will feature three special new ‘3-layer’ color schemes besides four already available for GranTurismo MC. There is a wide choice of wheels too, with four special finishes for Trofeo and MC designs. At the center of the wheels appears the medal-shaped centenary logo, itself available in two finishes, Charcoal grey and matte Smoke grey, depending on wheel color and design.
The Centennial Edition range comes with a wide range of interiors too. Each of the seven exterior finishes is combined with a specific interior finish. The leather upholstered seats boast a particularly aggressive look with contrasting decorative insert based on the three colors (white, blue and red) of seat profiles. The motif also extends to the headrests and surrounds the embroidered Trident logo.
The interior’s sporting appearance is enhanced by carbon fiber inserts on the seat surrounds, dashboard by a kick plate on which the celebratory centenary emblem takes pride of place. The same interior color scheme is also offered for Pietra gray exterior finish. The interior color scheme associated with 3-layer Inchiostro blue body finish contrasts dashboard with Santorini Blue inserts and stitching and white leather seats.
Powering the GranTurismo MC Centennial Edition range is a 4.7 liter V8 engine, which is good for producing 454 horsepower with 383 pound feet of torque. The engine is teamed up with a ZF six-speed automatic transmission, which is designed for delivering a top speed of 185 miles per hour and superb performance. Sport tuned MC suspension and Dual cast Brembo brakes also come standard. In keeping with Maserati philosophy, the vehicles also benefit from the advances made on previous models in terms of reducing emissions and fuel consumption. The GT MC Centennial Edition range will be available alongside the current Maserati range with sales due to begin in July 2014.
