Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 4×4 Version Of 6×6 Is Under Development: Spy-Shots

If had thought Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6 was all that Glendwagens had to offer, needed to think again. As Germans doesn’t stop at all, and there isn’t a dead-end for any of the G-Class to them, here’s one more example that landed fresh from the scoops of spy-shots.

As seen, the three-pointed star logoed automaker is testing a 4×4 version of the G63 AMG 6×6, which for some may sound as an act of insanity and vagueness. To comment it in right detail, there is an advantage of the 4×4 over that behemoth to those who use it duel-purposely. The 6×6 couldn’t be made possible for the urban commutes due to its massive appearance making a bit unpractical to walk along with the rest on tarmacs, where it would unknowingly crush down some compact cars underneath and may not show remorse.

Confirming the changes made to 4×4 as compared to the 6×6, firstly the bed is chopped off and ride height is raised. Modified rear bumper, revamped side skirts and extended fender flare are some other gimmicks.

Crisp of the story is – the difference between a current stock G63 AMG and the one harnessed from that 6×6 is the adoption of six-wheeler’s portal axle setup to for the latter/upcoming model. The wheels in this setup are placed lower unlikely to the conventional ones that are placed on the center axis of shaft.

However, power figures are bound to be milked at 544PS and 760Nm from 5.5-liter V8 engine, mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission and a 4-wheel drive system.

Hence, there isn’t a perfect date announced from the official bay of automaker, but speculations recommend it to be hitting the showrooms by early next year.
