M-Series for the BMW and AMG for the Mercedes-Benz – are two terms cowling in the upmarket car segment of India these days.
Keeping its words for the 2014, Mercedes-Benz launched the GL63 AMG in India for Rs 1.66 crore (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
The big AMG SUV of Merc is powered by a V8 AMG engine worth of 565PS and an eye whopping 760Nm of torque, enough to eat up a whole desert under its wheels for the breakfast.
The German carmaker is providing a standard 3-year warranty without any mileage limitations. Buyers can also avail an additional one year warranty, we mean for the 4th year, buy paying an additional sum of Rs 1.7 lakh.
GL63AMG can do a top speed of 250kmph and can attain the 0-100kmph mark in 5.5 seconds.
On the cosmetic front, AMG version of GL63 wears all-new AMG grille with black slats and a large Mercedes star nestled amidst.
The front apron is done with the larger air intake, where the chrome inserts on the bumpers are giving it a sense of a size larger SUV, which is also found going subtle with the LEDs.
The AMG front bumpers are assimilated into big wheel enclosure, making it to house a massive 21-inch AMD wheels. At the rear the Mercedes-Benz GL63 AMG gets a larger, sportier bumper, tailed off with the trademark AMG quad-pipe exhaust pipe setup.
Though, this car is undoubtedly a plush model, enough to deliver excellent results for the money asked on any of the terrains. The traction of it is found given on all the wheels via 4-Matic system, and a 40:60 split in the power delivery between front and rear wheels is also reported.
GL63AMG in India will be imported as a completely built unit (CBU), no local production yet.
The GL63 AMG joins the in-house AMG league of SLS AMG, SLK55 AMG, C63, G63 and E63 AMG.
Outside the house, its main rivals remain the Range Rover Sport, Porsche Cayenne Turbo and their likes.
It can also be added, the future launches of Mercedes-Benz includes A45, CLA45, CLS63 and the ML63 AMG.
