We had wrote in detail when the Mercedes-Benz GLA was revealed ahead of Frankfurt Motor Show, but finally making to the exact paddock of Frankfurt, we found there are none of the differences between what we had reviewed ahead of Motor Show, and the debuted version.
It is based on the Mercedes-Benz’s MFA platform, and used similar cues to that of the one placed on Mercedes-Benz A Class hatchback.
Though its engine specifications also remains the same with 1.6-liter petrol motor of 156 HP (115 kW), where the oil burner to do away with the 2.2-liter diesel of 136 HP (100 kW). In addition, there is another petrol engine which is meant to be engulfing its bay in the meaner form, hence it would be the 2.0-liter of 211 HP motor which one may find very lucrative for most of the markets.
Mercedes also had planned to put down AMG badge in the GLA with the series of turbocharged 4-cylinder 2.0-liter engine taken from the A45 AMG and CLA45 AMG. Hence, it will then be producing no lesser than 360 HP (265 kW), transferred to the 4MATIC all-wheel drive system via a dual-clutch, 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT gearbox. In fact, all the tunings for GLA AMG will be done to suit as per the racing plethora, we hope the deliveries of GLA may commence by next year or so.
Lest, while looking at the GLA we were drooling, what Mercedes-Benz had to say for the in-house competition with A Class rather than slotting something rightly like BMW X1 and Audi Q3 in the place. Hope so, the sales number of GLA would answer us the best when it will be finally rolled-out on the sales floor.
