Mercedes-Benz India has rolled out the GL Class Launch version at a cost of around Rs 77.50 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi).
The second generation luxury sport utility vehicle was first unveiled last year and carries many modifications when compared to its previous version.
The vehicle got rolled out by Mr. Eberhad Kern, chief executive officer of Mercedes-Benz India and tennis ace Boris Becker at an event, which took place in the national capital.
The domestic version 2013 GL 350 CDI will get power through a 3.0-litre V6 mill generating a peak power of 259PS and a peak torque of 619Nm. Power gets channelized to all 4 wheels through a 7G Tronic gear case and the German car manufacturer’s personal 4Matic all-wheel drive arrangement.
The 2013 GL350 CDI is 90 kilogram lighter as compared to the existing vehicle, and is also 20% extra fuel competent in the European cycle, in spite of higher power and torque numbers.
The vehicle also boasts of surround view, which makes use of 4 cameras placed around the vehicle to provide a 360 degree of the outside world to the driver. The 3rd row of seats can be folded or raised electrically as normal. There are other modifications such as the electrically aided steering, electric parking braking system and an optional sound system from Bang & Olufsen with an overall yield of 1200 watt from fourteen speaker systems.
The sport utility vehicle will hit the domestic zone as a CBU however Mercedes-Benz will start assembling it at their Pune facility by the month of September 2013.
