Come August 11, Mercedes Benz will add one more car to its AMG brand with the launch of the S 63 AMG sedan. The car is based on the W222 S-Class saloon and will retain the rounded appearance and flowing lines of the W222. The S 63 will be brought to India through the CBU route and thus pricing is expected to be on the higher end.
The chrome grille with single horizontal slat at the front with the typical 3 way pointing Mercedes logo gives the car that all typical Mercedes look. But what makes the car look truly like an AMG are the alloy wheels, splitters on the rear bumper and the black roof.
The S 63 AMG sedan will be powered by a 5.5-liter bi-turbo V8 engine which incidentally also powers the two-door S 63 AMG Coupe. The engine output and torque makes the S 63 one of the most powerful sedans in India since it is capable of giving out a max power of 577bhp and a max torque of 900Nm. The engine will be mated to a 7-speed MCT speedshift gearbox.
Internationally, the S 63 is offered with 4MATIC four-wheel drive system, but in India it is slated to come with only rear-wheel drive. Nothing much is known about the pricing, but we expect it to be around Rs.2.5 crore ex-showroom mark.
