If you were to sum all the reasons to love a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, it would create episodes, longer and more romantic than the Twilight saga. For starters, it is faster than a Ferrari, it is louder than a Lambo, more fun than the Porsche, and all put together, it looks so sinfully gorgeous. There is but, one less reason to love the Gullwing. Now, Mercedes-Benz graces the iconic SLS AMG with a GT badge.
Replacing the SLS AMG coupe and roadster, the new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT will sit as the flagship model of the German luxury automaker. The engine, is AMG’s own 6.2-litre V8, that now adds 20 more horses with the GT badge on. It spits out a staggering 583 bhp power with 479 lb-ft of torque. Our favorite bit, the flappy pedal, seven-speed AMG Speedshift dual-clutch transmission still finds its way in the new model. Numerically, it shortens the 0-60mph time to 3.6 seconds, that’s one tenth of a second shorter than the outgoing model. Its top speed is limited to 197 mph, same as before.
Now, its not just 20 horses that add the GT badge to the SLS; there is more. Guising as a GT model, the car receives adaptive performance suspensions, with stiffer springs and aggressively tuned dampers. The SLS AMG GT rides on 19-inch alloys upfront and 20-inch alloys on the rear.
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT adaptation follows inside the car with the new Designo style package featuring enhanced interior and styling. As a part of the Designo style package, the SLS comes in three distinct color combinations, including mono and two-tone interior, and features the richest leather finish with contrasting stitching and a diamond quilt pattern on the seats & doors. The list of optional features continues with goodies including, ceramic brakes and carbon fiber parts for both, the exterior & the interior, as well as a Bang & Olufsen sound systems.
What Mercedes has done is, it made the perfect car, a little dearer at heart. Prices will be announced close to its launch in November 2012.
