Mercedes Benz India Limited are definitely making all the right noises when it comes to sales for 2011. In January 2011, the German car maker trumped other luxury car makers in India by recording big sales numbers and followed it up in February with almost equal numbers. The sales figures for the month of February 2011 stand at 662 units, which is a 52 percent growth than the sales figures of February 2010.
Of all the cars in Mercedes stable, the bread and butter model, the Mercedes C-class clocked in 362 units whereas its elder sibling, the Mercedes E-class raked in 230 units. Mercedes SUVs weren’t far behind in this number rankings and the Mercedes GL class got 23 units whereas the R-class and ML brought in 27 units all together. Mercedes Benz India Limited’s CEO and Managing Director, Peter T Honegg stated that he appreciated the Indian customer’s mentality towards Mercedes cars and the way they can judge quality cars from the horde of luxury ones. He also mentioned that the year 2011 promises to be better as the months roll on. BMW has yet to report their sales figures and usually the Bavarian manufacturer is one shy thing as far as comments are concerned. It also remains to be seen if Mercedes can complete a hat trick in the month of March.
