The Indian arm of Japanese carmaker Mitsubishi has announced an attractive cut in the price of the new Pajero Sport, in a move that will definitely attract more customers to the SUV during the imminent festive season.
Mitsubishi India cut the price of its new Pajero Sport by Rs 1.87 lakh, from Rs.24.43 lakh to Rs.22.56 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The manufacturer has started building the Pajero Sport from CKD kits at its Tiruvallur plant. Many items like tyres, lamps, wiper assembly, the battery, window glass, the headlining, seat belts, and alloy wheels have already been localized for the Pajero Sport at the company’s Tiruvallur plant. The company is now aiming to increase the amount of localised content from current 14 per cent to 30 per cent in the near future.
However, no mechanical changes have been made to the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. Under the hood, the new SUV has the same 2.5-litre common-rail diesel engine that produces a maximum power of 175bhp. The engine comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
With CKD assembly plant, Hindustan Motors has now plans to boost volumes of the Pajero Sport SUV with an aim to garner a larger share of the soaring luxury SUV market. Hindustan Motors has plans to produce four hundred units of the Pajero Sport per month.
The move will help the company reduce the waiting periods for the new SUV. The company is also mulling plans to increase the number of its dealerships from 40 to 55 across the country.
